
My career story
First Career Break -1990
As long working hours in hotel i could not concentrate on my study,so i have decided to take a break and study again and complete my graduation, but in1990 i start looking for white collar job and on november 1990 land up with the hotel job again but this time on hotel payroll as a Laundry Trainee Helper with Leela Kempinski Hotel Mumbai India on monthly salary of 800 INR which is 46.00 USD in 1990. I started as fresher but gradually start enjoying the work as its was something new which i never seen as in Laundry, all machines brands from USA and Drycleaning brand from Italy like from USA Milnor Washer Extractors,ADC Dryers,Chicago Dryer Company -Flatwork Ironer 2 roller with automatic folder, Ajax Finishing equipment (Hot Head Ironing and steam ironing ) from Italy Donini -Drycleaning machine.
I have work all the section of Laundry start from Guest Laundry Valet,pick up-Delivery of guest Laundry,Sorting,Checking ,Marking,Spotting ,Washing,Drying, Drycleaning,Finishing ,FlatWork ironing and i was promoted as a Laundry Machine Operator but i trained myself in all the areas of Hotel laundry operations fully .
I have worked with The Leela Kempinski Hotel until August 1993 as a permanent employee.
First Overseas Career Break & Air Travel Experience -1993
While working with The Leela kempinski as a Laundry valet i came in interact with the hotel guest and he ask me if i am interested to work in his hotel in Dubai UAE. I said yes, as it was first working opportunity & same time to see flight and the air-hostess announcement of "please fasten your seat belt"which i seen only in movies and of course much better salary job. He ask me to come for an interview at the recruitment agent office and i gave interview and selected for the job with JW Marriott Hotel Dubai -as a Pre-opening member and i fly on August 1993.When i landed and started work it made me very easy as same equipment was there which i used in the Leela kempinski. But working with an American group of hotel chain as Marriott International was something different which i Learn,Fun and Earn.Before that i use to called by term employee or staff but here i got new name as associate It was great experience specially as pre-opening team member as well as working with different nationalities from all over the world and their different cultures and languages. I have worked with JW Marriott Dubai until 1999 and back to India to settle down with my family.
First Career as Laundry Manager-2005
From year 2000 to 2005 after working for several hotel groups in India like Le Meridien, Renaissance ,JW Marriott ,Grand Hyatt. My last designation was Laundry Supervisor in year 2005 with Grand Hyatt Mumbai,but same time i was actively applying online for laundry manager position specially out if India again. Then finally that call came in the evening from Antigua & Barbuda which is Caribbean Island of west Indies and i have given telephonic interview after interview got selected for Carlisle Bay Resort as a Laundry Manager. The 87 exquisitely-appointed suites with 4 restaurants & 4 bars.This was my first resort laundry experience and first island experience.
First Retail & Commercial Laundry Career as Laundry Manager-2010
After working from 1993 to 2010 for hotels laundries, in 2010 i switched to retail and commercial laundry few months as consultant in UAE and first full time project in West Africa Nigeria with Sparklynwash as operation manager to set up a retail cum commercial laundry from scratch.
Then after most job opportunities i got in retail and commercial Laundry Dubai ,UAE,Doha,Qatar,Accra,
Ghana West and Africa ,Bahrain (upto 2022)
Summary Of Career
1990-1993 :The Leela Kempinski Mumbai India Reason for leaving: Got better opportunity in Overseas Dubai UAE better salary and better prospects.
1993-1999:JW Marriott Dubai,UAE
Reason for leaving:
Settle down with family in India after marriage and my upcoming born child
2000-2001:Le Royal Meridien Mumbai,India
Reason for leaving:
Better Opportunity and designation In Renaissance Hotel Mumbai, India which was Marriott International first hotel In Mumbai India.
2001-2002: Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Center Mumbai,India
Lost My son at his age of 17 month and could not took that trauma mentally and can not concentrate and focus anything.
2002: JW Marriott Juhu Mumbai,India
After taking break join this job as no job opportunity in Renaissance to re-join again so to survive and for my immediate family i join here.
Reason For leaving:
Better designation first time as Laundry Supervisor In Intercontinental Grand Hotel Mumbai India
2003: Intercontinental The Grand Mumbai,India
Reason for leaving:
Better salary and that was a need for the time as my finances was down so i want to grab this opportunity with Grand Hyatt Hotel Mumbai, India for that need
2003-2005:Grand Hyatt Hotel Mumbai, India
Reason for leaving: I have got first opportunity as a Laundry Manager with Carlisle bay Resort Antigua & Barbuda Caribbean West Indies.
2005:Carlisle Bay Resort
Reason for leaving can not compromise with the island environment as well as food and had food allergic as it was first time on island.
Conclusion
Most of Job i leave frequently is because either reason i can not compromise with job environments as most and food in some cases. I did not much care even i know it was not good decision but that is happened i can called it my quick decision mistakes, need of that time or destiny. Now i realize and summaries all my career and look at the graph and accept it 100% and learn from the mistakes .I know it is let to understand mistakes at this old age but i cant get back my past again and repair all my decisions and mistakes, but i am sure if i get the opportunity to prove myself at present now and for my future and specifically it will be great help for my son future.Right now it is very bad feeling be at home front of my son of 18 year without job the same way what my late father was feeling as his textile mill had strike when i was18 ,so i do not want to repeat this same with me and my son. So my humble request if you can ignore my mistakes and give me the fresh opportunity it will be great help as i am carrying this 10 years vision from 2025 to 2035 to prove myself with my passion for Laundry Industry.
